No, these articles are about immigration and how discrimination affects minority groups.
What could you have done differently to get results that were about children and poverty?
To get results about children and poverty, I could try to use more targeted key words or different topics concerning the articles that I am searching for.
Find the following article in the Capella library and then use it to answer the following questions:
Wang, Y., & Rodgers, R. (2006). Impact of service-learning and social justice education on college students’ cognitive development. NASPA Journal, 43(2), 316–337. doi:10.2202/1949-6605.1642
Read the information in the section Methodology. Describe the sample instructor and student population (who participated), number of courses, and the type of institution. Use the proper in-text citation.
There were seven teachers from six service-learning courses in this research who were invited to participate and be with the students and their teachers in these courses. They were arranged by Midwestern State University (Wang & Rodgers, 2006).
What do we know about the generalizability of this study? In the researcher’s language, are findings of this study generalizable?
It may be difficult to use this research for the entire populace. The researchers were keen to include students from such courses who also indicated their level of studies. This research is aiming at that group of individuals, not students who are at a different study level as well.
Find the following article in the library and then use it to answer the following questions:
Sutter, M., & Perrin, P. B. (2016). Discrimination, mental health, and suicidal ideation among LGBTQ people of color. Journal of Counseling Psychology, 63(1), 98–105.
Read the information in the section Method – Participants. Explain the sample population (who participated) in your own words. Use the correct citation.
The participants of this study were LGBTQ participants, of a racial/ethnic minority group and 18 years of age or older. The data were collected by means of an online survey.
Other than the participants of this survey, who else can the findings be valid for? In research terminology, to whom can the findings be generalized?
These results can be generalized to any LGBTQ individual, whether he/she is from racial minority groups or otherwise. These results can even be generalized to individuals who are merely from minority groups. Numerous individuals are being discriminated against these days, whether race, gender, sexuality, religion, etc. and the negative effects that it has, can be generalized to numerous individuals.
