Conditioning and Learning Plan

Part 1: Scenario
Instructions  Scenario and Behavior
Jamie often wastes considerable time on such things as browsing social networks or watching TV, which they do instead of studying and, as a rule, study only several hours before the exam. This particular habit of procrastination is unbeneficial to their studies in school. To remedy this, this plan outlines the following study plan which can enhance positive student habits: This routine will help Jamie improve on time management, create responsibility, and exercise self-control for a better academic and personal life.

These behaviors are depicted in the following way: Jamie loses time managing his university timetable; he prefers to waste time on anything but university work. The development of structured routines has been found to improve students’ performance and decrease stress since time management does correspond with performance (Wolters & Brady, 2021). Moreover, another study by Valente & Lourenço (2023) pointed out that procrastination has found that positive reinforcement techniques enhance the probability of habitual behavior and time consistency.

This plan aims at modifying study habits through principles of operant conditioning and achieving a more structured effective study timetable. The first purpose is to assist Jamie in developing the daily habit of spending at least two consecutive hours on a particular academic study, time management as well as enhancing performance.

If Jamie is encouraged by a mentor, in the form of positive reinforcement, to change she will be able to adopt and sustain this sort of study method.

By so doing Jamie should be able to obtain better results by the end of the year and gain such good habits as punctuality, responsibility, and proper time management.

Jamie, a university student, often gets idle and spends much of the day browsing social networks or watching television rather than working on the task. Using such principles as operant conditioning principles, they intend to help their subjects improve their study habits and, therefore, academic performance.
The intervention that will be tailored for Jamie is that, at least, two consecutive hours every day be spent on studying. To my approach, it is meant to enhance the way they spend time and excel academically.
A positive influence will be required from a mentor to convince Jamie to stick to the Routine and work towards making the changes in the proposed study timetable a natural new habit.
There are several benefits to this approach these include better academic achievement for Jamie and the more obvious components of punctuality, responsibility, and time management.
Part 2: Plan  Conditioning Principles
Targeted Response:  The learning achievement is to have Jamie set a practice of spending at least two consecutive hours a day concentrating on his books. It promotes time management, eliminates excessive last-minute preparation, and cultivates discipline which in one way or the other improves performance and overall personality.
Primary Reinforcer  Immediate tangible rewards including a snack, the learner’s favorite drink, or a brief recess are given after a particular study session is completed. These rewards help make studying the subject more fun this in a way helps to positively reinforce the behavior of studying.
Secondary Reinforcer  Positive feedbacks include things such as a teacher or parent telling the child, ‘You are doing great!’ or the child hears ‘I am impressed with your dedication!’ This helps Jamie build her confidence and links studying with attainment and attainment.
Schedules of Reinforcement  First, Jamie gets a reward from each study session (called continuous reinforcement). Subsequently, rewards are shifted to a variable ratio schedule based on an unpredictable number of sessions completed. After that, a variable interval schedule is introduced in which reward use is random thus encouraging long-term behavior change.
Shaping  To start with, Jamie works with brief study breaks like 30 minutes, and he earns some incentives once the time is over. Later on, such sessions rise to 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and at last 120 minutes. It is also gradual so that Jamie is not overwhelmed while at the same time practicing improvement is constant.
Optional follow-up Finally, the external products are brought into the background, as intrinsic motivation comes to the foreground. Higher grades, decreased stress levels, and increased self-esteem make the behaviour enjoyable for Jamie, and will help her retain the habit on her own.
