Assessment Overview

MHA FPX 5042 Assessment 2 is a Personal Development Plan that lists the author’s goals and plans for becoming a better leader, both at work and in private.  The author thinks about their natural leadership skills, which are similar to how well they can help and guide their family and friends.  Still, they also point out important areas for growth, such as improving tone-confidence and finding a balance between work and family life.  The plan includes a number of SMART goals, such as getting a “growth mindset” in their job and spending more time with their family.  The document stresses how important a guiding relationship is for building trust, developing talent, and making sure everyone is treated fairly in the factory.

Personal Development Plan

Any business that wants to grow and be successful needs leaders.  Good leaders question the way things are done now, share new ideas, get team members’ support, and motivate everyone to work together to achieve goals that are in line with the organization’s mission and values.  Leaders who don’t have a clear idea of what they want to do in the future often act more like managers than true leaders.  While leaders push for change and strive for excellence, managers tend to keep things the same.  They inspire this change by setting goals, being a good role model, and encouraging others.  In both my personal and professional life, I have been a leader in my family.  My relatives respect me because I am determined to succeed, make smart choices, and keep learning and moving up in my career.

I have also made it a point to get in touch with family members who need help.  I give them help and advice to help them make their lives better.  For a long time, I’ve been a natural life coach, helping different family members deal with different problems.  People often ask me for help when things get tough because I can give them advice, encouragement, and support.  I know I can teach and train others, but I also know that there are still things I can improve on in my personal and professional life.  It is important to think about what you do, how you do it, and what you believe.  Knowing someone’s strengths is just as important as knowing what they need to work on.  Self-assessment helps clarify skills, boundaries, and interests (Avan and Cilin, 2022).

Strong leaders often have traits like character, integrity, honesty, dependability, a strong drive, a vision, and insight.  To have self-discipline, you need to really understand how reliable, honest, good at communicating, and able to take the answer you get.  It is important to find areas that need work and improvement.  It may be hard to find your weaknesses, but it’s important for your personal and professional growth.  Leaders who are careful know how important it is to have a learning mindset and to boost their own confidence on a regular basis. Growth requires being open to new ideas and being willing to look at what works and what needs to change.  Effective leaders who want to grow themselves take steps to improve (Allen & Fry, 2023).

To be a good leader, you need to have a strong sense of right and wrong and a base of trust and respect.  Different styles of leadership can get team members to commit at different levels. To lead an industry, you need to be able to think quickly, adapt, and get rid of problems.  Leaders in business must accept change and get themselves and their companies ready to succeed.  The development focuses on personal and business growth that is good for both the team and the company.  Visionary leaders foster this mindset among their colleagues through transparent communication, training, and challenging the status quo (Canals et al., 2023).

I try to judge my character, honesty, and skill without any bias or pride.  Getting an honest answer from a friend or coworker gives you different ideas and ways to look at things.  Leaders who want to grow should see the answer as useful and important for their growth.  Dynamic leaders know that they need to constantly think about their own actions. They are slow to speak, quick to listen, and careful about what they do.  One of the hardest things for me to do at work is make decisions based on how I feel.  If you don’t handle your emotions correctly, they can lead you in the wrong direction and make things more difficult.  To understand and make changes, you need to be honest with yourself (Slonim, 2022).

SMART Goals

My first goal for personal growth is to make progress in both my work and personal life.  This way of thinking in my job puts the team’s and my organization’s professional growth and insight first.  This includes places to keep an eye on the organization’s financial and logical performance, customer satisfaction, complaints that need to be made, and changes that need to be made.  Recently, I have been mostly focused on my personal and business goals.  Development necessitates comprehensive contemplation involving team members and organizations.  It solicits feedback and regards criticism as a means to improve processes and methodologies (Caniëls et al., 2023).

My second smart goal comes from my desire to be there for my family while also working and being present in my marriage and family life.  Both need time, dedication, and focus to be successful, so it’s important to find a healthy balance.  I worked 50 to 75 hours a week lately, and I often thought about important times I had with my kids.  I now see how bad it is to not be fully present at work, even though the job’s commitment is important. To find balance, I need to shift my focus from work to family during non-work hours.  My work schedule has changed, which means I can spend more time with my family and get more done at work.

In addition to balancing work and family, it’s also important for my mental and physical health to find time to rest.  When I was a teenager, I worked a lot and was productive, which seemed like a good thing at the time.  But I didn’t think about work-life balance until now.  As I near my late thirties, I now appreciate my time more and see how important it is to balance work, rest, and family life.  I’ve come to understand how important it is to be there for my family, both mentally and physically, in the last few years.

As a father of seven, I think spending time with my family is just as important as getting things done at work.  My third SMART goal is to keep working on my career and education without giving up time with my family.  Also, to help my mental focus, I need to make time for comfort.  This goal is still going strong and requires constant work and discipline because I have to balance being a father, a man, a student, and a health professional.  I reach this goal because I work hard every day and do my best for my family.

My next smart goal is to finish your master’s degree by the end of February 2024.  In the past, I worked full-time and went to school at the same time, which I thought was the best way to improve my education.  I got my bachelor’s degree from Capella through the Flex Path program, which meant I took a class every six weeks.  I wanted to finish a class every other week for my master’s degree, but I crossed that goal off my list and set a new one: to finish my degree in six months.  For instance, to lead my family, I need to be strong, focused, and determined.  I want to leave my kids a legacy that shows them that hard work pays off.

Goals, Actions, and Timelines

Being a loving husband and father while growing my career has always been important to me.  As a healthcare professional, having a growth mindset means looking for ways to improve myself, my team, and my company.  A growth mindset is not just about you; it is also about helping others grow.  I can start developing this way of thinking right away, and I can help others grow by coaching them and learning from them.  I will gauge this growth by my capacity to train and effectively lead my teammates.

Training my team will make the ophthalmology department at our company stronger.  Individual success comes from team success.  I will improve my leadership skills and growth mindset by leading processes, mentoring others, and making sure that work is done well.  I will be able to figure out what is going well and what needs to be better by having regular follow-up meetings.  Over the next two years, focusing on my own growth and that of my team will be an important sign of my growth mindset.

The Coaching Relationship

Coaching is when an experienced person helps a student or mentee reach their goals by giving them support, advice, and direction.  Coaches are important for the growth of both individuals and teams because they encourage, guide, and push people to do their best.  They find flaws and make chances for growth and learning.  For example, good coaches are honest and have integrity.  They build self-confidence, inspire people, and build trust in open communication (Mulerger et al., 2023).

Application of Coaching Strategies

To be a good coach, you need to first understand the person you’re working with, whether it’s a customer, student, or employee.  Understanding their strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and motivations fosters trust and insight.  For instance, leading leads to being open.  Another good way to do this is to set clear goals and stress practical ways to reach them.  Celebrating achievements fosters ethical behavior and promotes continuous advancement (Potempa et al., 2023).

Coaching to Build and Develop Talent

When you lead a team project, you have to teach other people about new systems and processes.  To be a good coach, you need to pay attention and be able to talk to people well.  Training team members makes the team work better and shows off hidden skills. As a team leader, I’ve learned how important it is to give clear instructions and be available to answer questions.  Coaching necessitates patience, receptiveness, and robust leadership (Mulerger et al., 2023).

Building Trust and Rapport When Coaching

You can start to build confidence and coordination by showing that you can do something and that you are confident in your abilities.  It seems that communication, setting expectations, and setting goals are important.  It helps to let everyone on the team know.  Good coaches learn how to communicate well and pay close attention to what others say so they can understand what they need and want.

Checks or Measures for Equity and Honesty

Equity at work means that everyone has the same chances, no matter who they are or what skills they have.  Leaders should take into account their own needs and make sure that no one has been left out.  Promoting fairness means getting the team to work together to reach common goals. Honesty at work comes from the culture and the way leaders think.  A culture of integrity is built on open communication and honest leadership.  To encourage honesty among workers, leaders must be honest, own up to their mistakes, and have a team-oriented attitude (Potempa, 2023).

Conclusion

It’s not easy to do well at work.  SMART goals are a great way to make sure that your goals are in line with your deadlines.  I need to set smart goals for my academic and professional journey.  I am working on my master’s degree while I work on the discipline and focus I need to do it.  Coaching my adopted nephew has taught me a lot about how to be a good leader.  The example and building ferment have been important in my time as a coach.  I enjoy talking about new hires in my job.  To be a good success coach, you need to focus on growth, honesty, integrity, and working together.

Step-by-Step Guide

A specific development plan is a plan that shows you how to reach your goals.  To make a full plan, follow these steps:

  1. Do a self-assessment. Start by thinking about what you’re good at and what you do wrong.  The document shows that the author is good at helping others but not so good at balancing their personal and professional lives.  This awareness of tone is what makes any development plan useful.
  2. As a leader, you should be able to explain your vision and core values.  The author talks about how important it is to be honest and humble and have a “growth mindset.” This gives them a clear path for their growth.
  3. Set SMART goals: Make your tone assessment into goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.  The document lists three
    • Professional Growth: Encourage a “growth mindset” in their company by focusing on improving their team’s performance.
    • Particular Balance makes sure that work and family life are balanced by setting limits on work hours.
    • Educational Achievement: Finish a bachelor’s degree by a certain date to show that you are disciplined and committed for the long term.
  1. For each thing, make a clear plan of action and a specific time frame.  The author wants to grow professionally by training their team and giving them tasks to do over the next two times.  To find the right balance, the action is to cut back on work hours and spend more time with family.
  2. Make a plan for coaching. Figure out how you will use guiding to reach your goals and help others grow.  The document talks about how important it is to have a guiding relationship that can help and guide you.  It also explains how the writer plans to build trust and friendship with their team by listening carefully and communicating clearly.
  3. Check for fairness and honesty. Make sure your plan includes ways to make things fair and clear.  The author says that leaders need to make sure that everyone is treated fairly and that honesty is important for building trust and credibility within the team.
