Health education is a key factor in enhancing the quality of life for people from all walks of life. Through the promotion of awareness among communities regarding common health problems and diseases, favorable health results can be obtained. As defined by Health Education Strategies (2015), health education is the process of spreading information to focus groups about certain health subjects, clarifying the health benefits or risks they are exposed to, and providing them with instruments to support behavior change in relevant places. In this evaluation, three health subjects are going to be suggested for approval, each for a 30-minute educational session.

Depression

Depression is a psychiatric illness that involves sustained sadness and loss of pleasure or interest in activities. It will have a significant impact on daily functioning and quality of life. Promoting awareness of mental illness creates a culture in which individuals affected will feel comfortable to express feelings and seek help. The American Psychiatric Association shows that about one of every 15 adults have depression in a given year, with one of every six people experiencing depression at some time in their lifetime (“What Is Depression?”, n.d.). Breaking the silence about mental illness is essential in removing stigma and fostering empathy and understanding within communities.

Preeclampsia

Preeclampsia is a significant complication that may occur during pregnancy, usually appearing after 20 weeks. If not treated, it may cause serious complications in both the mother and the fetus, such as seizures, stroke, or even maternal death. It is crucial to make preeclampsia widely known since there are women who do not have symptoms, or their symptoms might be ignored. Due to its tendency to advance quickly, prompt detection and intervention are essential in order to ensure positive outcomes for both mother and infant.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a metabolic condition with high blood sugar levels, caused by insufficient insulin production or a failure to use insulin. There are two main types: type 1, which tends to occur early in life and is largely genetic, and type 2, which is strongly associated with lifestyle choices like diet and exercise. Raising awareness regarding diabetes and its complications is vital to ensure treatment regimen adherence and preventive practices. Dietary changes, regular physical activity, and weight control can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by a significant margin. Diabetes is a chronic health condition that impacts the body’s ability to metabolize food into energy, as stated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2023).
