DB FPX 8610 Assessment 3: is about making sure that the leadership frameworks work for Kensington Auto Parts’ problem, which is that they don’t handle change well because of gaps in leadership. The assessment examines the efficacy of sensemaking and sustainability frameworks in aiding leaders to adeptly navigate change, reduce costs, boost productivity, and retain talent. Students need to think about the problem, use the right frameworks, and think about what it means in real life.
What’s Included:
When a change operation is inadequately managed or ignored, the result is the design and association peril, an increase in costs, and pitfalls (Creasey, 2022). This can be fluently observed with the Kensington Auto Parts company. Quality of work is reduced; a valued gift is at a loss, and productivity is low (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). In turn, the pitfalls decline morale and impact guests and suppliers. In addition, a heritage of failed change persists. These costs and pitfalls aren’t only felt by the design platoon but also by the entire company (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). Numerous of these costs and threat impacts extend well beyond the lifecycle of a given design. Nevertheless, when precious workers leave, the consequences can be extreme. Subsequently, why is Kensington Auto Parts ignoring all their warning signs?
A problem that Kensington Auto Parts is having is directly linked to emotional intelligence and leadership. To be specific, Kensington’s Auto Parts’s problem is their change operation is poor. However, a change operation can be a threat mitigation tactic and a cost avoidance fashion (Creasey, 2022) if managed rightly. In the case of Kensington Auto Parts, substantiation that failing to deliver results and issues are as follows
When a company applies change operation effectively, it can alleviate pitfalls and help pitfalls tied to how workers acclimate to change (Creasey, 2022). This goes without saying: Kensington Auto Parts’s change operation strategy will need to include its business roadmap and guiding principles (Creasey, 2022). Likewise, all their business leaders need to reflect and echo the pretensions of the change operation strategy (Shin, 2013). Without mistrustfulness, if Kensington Auto Parts and their leaders aren’t prepared to effectively follow and impact their change operation strategy, the results could be mischievous (Shin, 2013). As proven in last time’s request share loss, Kensington Auto Parts’s position declined 3 due to several contributing factors (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). So, the gap in practice needs to be bridged incontinently.
Kensington Auto Parts’s gap in practice is that leadership fails to understand the significance of change operation. Knowing how to lead and navigate through queries and chaotic changes can make or break a company (Shin, 2013). Also, change operation is a collaborative trouble (Shin, 2013). Thus, when it comes to the change operation plan, there cannot be only one person driving it. Leadership must have support from all situations of operation (Shin, 2013). More importantly, leadership must understand that change operation is at the core of precipitously managing and enforcing ongoing change (Creasey, 2022).
According to exploration, for a change operation to be effective, leaders at all levels in the company need to be involved in managing change (Hitt, 1995). This is to say, all leadership at Kensington Auto Parts must understand the impacts and how to affect failing change operations. The elderly operation sets the tone, the middle operation plays the frontline, and platoon leaders all have important places (Hitt, 1995). Whether anticipated or unanticipated, change can either lead an association to success or failure (Hitt, 1995). Thus, to be effective in change operation, leaders at Kensington Auto Parts must be apprehensive of the “meaning” status of their association (Ericson, 2001). For example, the way Kensington Auto Parts makes sense of why a new process or change is being enforced may differ from the factual meaning of why the change is being introduced (Ericson, 2001).
Similar to Kensington Auto Parts not moving the company’s request to reach beyond U.S. homes, it is being interpreted as “let’s not move down from how things have always been done” (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). Accordingly, if the leaders at Kensington Auto Parts don’t understand the impacts of their poor change operation chops, the pitfalls are going to continue to be damaging (Ericson, 2001).
For a company to resuscitate itself similarly to Kensington Auto Parts, they must be willing to do away with outdated business models (Tran & Anvari, 2014). Doing effects “the way it has always been done” doesn’t allow for change to do (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). A company that aims to place change operation as a threat mitigation and cost avoidance fashion understands the significance of managing change (Muralidharan, n.d.). For illustration, Kensington Auto Parts must be willing to meet the request head-on (Tran & Anvari, 2014).
Meaning, they must be prepared to either stay where they are or go where the request is or go. Presently, Kensington Auto Parts has failed to form any global marketing mates, and the reclamation of youthful creative gifts has declined (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). Both contributing factors could have been fluently eased and avoided if the change operation had been used rightly. With trends growing steadily and expanding, change in operation must be bandied regularly (Tran & Anvari, 2014).
Part of that discussion should involve exercising fabrics to help apply change operation efficiently. fabrics will allow for the applicable planning and structure to be used as a companion to drive organizational success. In the history, associations were suitable to calculate on traditional fabrics (Kunnanatt, 2016). moment, issues are more complex, forcing leadership to have to be more thorough and strategic in choosing the correct frame approaches that will fit with the company’s pretensions (Kunnanatt, 2016).
This said, two fabrics, Sensemaking and Sustainability, give evidence that Kensington Auto Parts’s failure to understand the significance of managing change will continue to lead them to unprofitable results. A sensemaking frame is further of an abstract frame as opposed to a more theoretical sustainability frame. Both are designed to help associations with their decision-making hobbies as they break problems and deal with complexity. Through a sensemaking frame, a company can engage in the sensemaking process related to understanding arising benefactions (Ericson, 2001).
In particular, an association must understand how workers produce meaning and make sense of their organizational pretensions (Ericson, 2001). The pool is changing every day as seen through the eyes of the epidemic. Kensington Auto Parts can also attest to the shifts in the pool. As they’re losing in the request as their challengers adventure out encyclopedically (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). This said an association help must get its pool to embrace new technology and business ideas. To further unfold, a sensemaking frame helps an association work through defying dramatic changes that could fluently lead to repaired meanings (Ericson, 2001).
While a sensemaking frame will allow Kensington Auto Parts to apply sensemaking in a rigorous and structured manner, a sustainability frame will allow Kensington Auto Parts to manage and encourage their wider impacts long-term in a structured manner. For a sustainability frame to be successful, it must be erected into the business strategy (Doppelt, 2017). This way, metamorphosis can be changed from top to bottom (Doppelt, 2017). Case in point, when it comes to Kensington Auto Parts, if a sustainability frame approach was active, also their everyday decision—timber—will define their short-term and long-term accomplishments (Doppelt, 2017). As it stands, Kensington Auto Parts is suffering because their vision of being at the top of the industry doesn’t align with its sustainability pretensions (Media.capella.edu, n.d.).
The two fabrics were named because they duly align with Kensington Auto Parts’s problem and their gap in practice. Both support the substantiation that changing operation is important to the ongoing success of an association. In addition, they both prove that it’s inversely important that Kensington Auto Parts understand what managing change looks like. Also, both prove that understanding change operation is virtually a demand for ongoing change. Incipiently, they both prove that without a change operation frame in place, pitfalls won’t be eased, and costs won’t be avoided. As observed at Kensington Auto Parts, pitfalls and costs are over (Media.capella.edu, n.d.).
Kensington Auto Parts’s costs of not expanding encyclopedically have posed a threat in generating new profit. Also, the costs of not situating themselves to be a company that emerges with change have to risk them losing youthful and innovative gifts (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). In turn, this cost has raised the periodic budget for hand development (Media.capella.edu, n.d.). In the end, Kensington Auto Parts’s future is in jeopardy, so changes must be made soon (Media.capella.edu, n.d.).
rather than choosing fabrics that were more traditional and common, similar to the McKinsey 7-S or Lewin models. McKinsey’s 7-S model is designed to understand the current business structure, what needs to change, and why (Team, 2021). Lewin’s model, on the other hand, is simpler; it follows a 3-step process (Team, 2021). Although both of these models would be inversely effective for Kensington Auto Parts, the two named allow for a further untraditional approach. Known for doing effects the old way, needs to shift to stop doing effects. Both a sensemaking and sustainability frame reflect that Kensington Auto Parts is set to do effects else.
Change is ineluctable (Doppelt, 2017). It’s going to be whether an association is ready for it or not. For instance, workers will come and go, leadership will shift then and there, products and services will change, etc. This is to say, a change will be made at some point. Still, the consequence of inadequately managed change is perilous for any business (Doppelt, 2017). Grounded on the content of the change operation and the gap in practice understanding the significance of the change operation, I can identify a business problem and design that addresses a need versus a want. Presently, at my job, hand morale is down. This is a problem because it’s the result of misruling people. My field is payment results consulting. As advisers, we’re assigned systems. With morale being low, this impacts the overall objects of systems. A lot of systems aren’t being completed by the deadline, budgets are well over, and advisers are unproductive. Like Kensington Auto Parts, the mismanagement of change is dangerous and can have long-lasting goods (Doppelt, 2017).
While our systems can take on several different enterprises, the fact remains that ignoring the egregious consequence is impacting job performance. This goes without saying: both sensemaking and sustainability fabrics can fluently be used as a design to alleviate pitfalls and avoid costs at my company. As far as sensemaking, leadership must make sense as to why they’re making changes and if their changes are being understood (Ericson, 2001). This could be by speaking with small groups or by requesting feedback through anonymous checks and also making a change grounded on the input. The sustainability frame could be effective at my company as well. This could work if all leadership begins to lead by illustration, visibly and aloud supporting the pretensions of the company (Doppelt, 2017). To reduce particular bias within the discovery process, leadership must first be apprehensive that bias exists (Walter et al., 2016). Still, the design pitfalls are being impacted negatively if particular impulses are ignored. One way that leadership can alleviate bias is to be auspicious. For illustration, leadership can take once-gests and learn from them. Get involved in the sensemaking frame by including a third-party platoon to dissect data and the plant to give feedback to apply change. Another way is for leadership to produce different brigades to help tone down impulses and groupthink.
This assessment helped me to identify frameworks to address a business problem. Building on my earlier experience, I am now able to recognize a gap in practice and then make a case to provide the best foundation for addressing the problem. Although I found it challenging, to say the least, it is rewarding to know that I feel confident in what I have learned through this assessment. Challenging because researching practitioner and scholarly frameworks to align with the gap in practice was overwhelming. The research was so interesting and enlightening; I may have spent too much time on certain articles. In the end, I had too many choices. I was full of knowledge and had to separate what was relevant from what was deemed as irrelevant. Hopefully, my selection of choices is considered appropriate. Overall, I found this assessment to be fun and exciting. This is because I had to choose a different problem and related gap in practice from my selected business story. As stated before, I don’t have much experience in this field, so this assessment allowed for further practice. To be honest, I am enthusiastic about the knowledge and skills I am gaining from this course. This assessment, as well as the last, is strengthening my leadership skills so that I will be stronger in both the field and when I attempt to complete my capstone. So far, I must say, this is one of my favorite courses in the program.

The main point of the test is to align leadership frameworks with the aim of improving poor change management.
These frameworks serve as tools for comprehending and achieving long-term success.
They offer you structured, non-traditional ways to manage big changes in a company.
Sensemaking helps people understand and talk about change better, while sustainability makes sure that a company's strategy stays in line with its long-term goals.
