Supply Chain Resource List

Being an MBA student, you will have numerous resources from which you can learn about supply management all over the world. When you start working on assignments for this course, you will need to use numerous resources to verify your research. There will be five resources I will recommend, but most of them will be available in the library of this university. The five resources provided will make it easier for you to understand the concept of supply chain management and present recent trends. The course ideas are:

• Identify the elements of a supply chain.
• Define and explain the challenges of setting up and coordinating a supply chain.
• Explain in detail what role a supply chain plays in business success.
• Propose a model for supply chain management.
• Analyze recent trends and issues in effective supply chain management (Capella University, 2022).

Major Takeaways

One of the notable trends in supply chain management is learning from the pandemic experience and reviewing the system collapse to avoid future errors. The notable contributory factors are the fluctuation of supply due to the pandemic, inconsistency of supply, and shortage of materials (Okorie et al., 2020). The inconsistency of the supply and shortage of materials were linked, as the supply can’t be present if there is a shortage of materials to manufacture the products.

Resource 1

The Harvard Business Review website is one that provides current trends. The article provides information regarding the concept of surviving the pandemic and how to best prepare supply chain frameworks for future pandemics. A worldwide pandemic such as COVID-19 shut down supply chains, revealing many vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities were the opportunity to make supply chains more resilient. Students learning about these vulnerabilities will have an edge over others in the employment market.

The pandemic created the urge to create more robust supply chains without sacrificing their competitiveness (Shih, 2020). This work provides ways of identifying weaknesses in a firm’s supply chain, ideas on product expansion, harnessing process innovations, and listing stock holdings (Shih, 2020). The tool will add to the ability of understanding current trends and issues in efficient supply chain management as well as proposing a way to manage supply chains

Resource 2

This is a Forbes resource, and it is talking about supply chain collaboration networks (SCCN). SCCN is another supply chain management trend. SCCN provides a collaborative supply chain process solution on a public cloud (Banker, 2022). The lack of predictability leads to the issues in supply chain processes. The article is useful to the students in determining breaks in the supply chain process as well as supply chain management, and it further allows them to remove the context of newer trends. Apart from this, it allows the student to possess self-developing problem-solving abilities. The content is synonymous with the ability to analyze newer trends as well as issues within efficient supply chain management.

Resource 3

In the Research Policy Journal, there was a published article with an alternative perspective on the role of suppliers for services and products (Delgado & Mills, 2020). The article discusses the gap between supply chain industries compared to business-to-consumer industries. Through this article, the students will be in a position to offer the role that supply chain management plays in national economic performance and national innovation according to a suggested framework. This resource will be opposite the competency of explaining in detail what is the role of a supply chain towards the success of a business and proposing frameworks of supply management.

Resource 4

A framework that seeks to have a more sustainable global value chain in the future for continuous improvements is outlined in this article (Magableh, 2021). It is examining the world effect the pandemic had on supply chains. There are detailed trends outlined to determine how the framework was developed. The advantage of this material for students is it gives future design frameworks to allow for continuous changes once problems arise. The ability that this resource covers is talking at length about what value a supply chain adds to the success of a business and also suggesting supply management frameworks and examining existing trends and challenges in effective supply chain management.

Resource 5

This resource talks at length about the determinants of supply chain success. The traditional sources of supply chain management are given. The components are manufacturing, warehousing, inventory distribution and control, sales, and delivery (Kulwiec, 2000). The article explains a model where conventional supply chains are circumventing stages to sell directly. The students will learn traditional components of supply chains while learning about early changes in supply chains. This will allow them to think more about how the pandemic had impacted the traditional elements and the contrast of the bypassing structure with developing trends and alterations we have observed since the pandemic. This material will be working towards all the course competencies listed.

Reflection

The provided materials are examples that can be used to communicate the information learned in the course to reach the competencies. The students can utilize the resources as a point of beginning in completing the course but also relating the context towards future and current career goals. The application of resources depicting contexts of everyday life will make the students enthusiastic about the course since they are able to relate the learning to the reality that they experience. These resources capture my student-centered teaching philosophy that is a combination of a student-centered philosophy, because every person learns differently, and active learning.
