Ontological Humility

Cognitive Differentiation 

The cognitive differentiation refers to the degree of different dimensions of meaning or personal constructions. There have been several studies regarding Business Model Innovation (BMI) that have proven cognition plays a crucial role in enabling or limiting such innovations (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). In this respect, BMI is an effective way to address environmental issues. BMI is the process of improving value and innovation in benefits by simultaneously, and equally well-fitting, changes to the firm’s customer value proposition as well as to its underlying operating model. The key benefit of BMI, both as an existing or new business model, is that it unleashes new value propositions for making revenue and new ways of producing and acquiring value. Ontological humility is the fact that none of us senses reality as it actually is. Ontological humility acknowledges that there are three realities in ontology. Whoever practices ontological humility takes their reality to a point that respects themselves (Munro, 2020), but they also know that it may be based on wrong information that may change their perception.

Cognition 

The theory of cognitive differentiation is the number of dissimilar elements of import or distinct notions that a person supplies within his/her system. In this instance, BMI is a powerful weapon for dealing with environmental challenges. Cognitive differentiation comes from Kelly’s Role Construct Repertory Test (Cherry, 2020), meant to elicit a representative selection of a person’s ideas and to sample authoritarian characteristics of created dimensions. Cognitive integration is associated with the methods of breeding knowledge. Application of the term indicates the significance of combining the hidden and open aspects of academic activity and their concord in the creation of new information, reaching new degrees of understanding and self-understanding (Nurgaleeva, 2015). Cognition includes psychological processes that are associated with the learning of knowledge and understanding. These mental processes include thinking, knowing, remembering, judging, and problem-solving. These are more complex cognitive abilities of the brain and include language, imagination, perception, and planning (Nurgaleeva, 2015). Perception is utilized by the author of the article “Do You See” to propose that a business model can be referred to as a form of intellectual design (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). Different existing research studies in BMI have shown that knowledge has a part to play in enabling or disabling such development. At the core of BMI failure, there could be differences in insights that naturally arise but are typically outstanding. There are three levels to intellectual achievement: system behavior, human behavior, and ambiguity. System behavior is the interrelatedness of parts and systems (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). Human behavior is the coordination among various individuals and groups. Ambiguity is uncertainty of new matters and lack of understanding and confusion. These concepts or integration levels are essential to the effective management of BMI; otherwise, it will fail.

Business model innovation refers to the science of upgrading and value addition by introducing simultaneous and mutually reinforcing changes in a company’s value proposal to customers as well as its fundamental operation model (Wirtz & Daiser, 2018).

Assumption and Organization Redesign

An assumption I would make is if the company that I am sharing with is in the same kind of business that I am.

Different businesses must be operated differently in different industries. The business I am in could be something else other than theirs. This presumption is important, as it would be like Walmart offering McDonald’s their business model; they are two different companies operating in two different businesses. Must organizational redesign precede BMI? (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). I believe it must. A period of experimentation, utilized for designing, evaluating, and experimenting with a set of business models or options, is suggested. Since BMI is the art of adding and maximizing value, organizational redesigning should precede BMI.

 Accommodation of BMI

No, as the business success is not guaranteed. A BMI is meant to come after the business has been running for a while. If a BMI were to come before the organization, it might be based on false assumptions. Anything can change at any moment, and if you have already done a BMI before the organization, then you might have to redo it all. It’s like a marriage; you don’t know whether it will work, so why make plans? Ontological Humility Double distribution can be defined as the publication of a paper largely duplicating one previously published in paper or electronic format. Duplicate publications are considered unethical because they manipulate results, waste readers’, peer reviewers’, and editors’ time, and compromise the integrity of science.

Ontological Humility 

Dual publication can be defined as “the submission of a paper to a journal that is simultaneously under consideration by some other publication.” Authors should simply submit original material not published earlier or under review for another refereed publication.

Guidelines of most journals mention prohibitions on dual submission. Clinical journal readers are entitled to assume that what they are reading is new unless, for good reasons, the editor and author are knowingly publishing an article (ICMJE, 2021). The standards upon which this position is based include international intellectual property law, ethical integrity, and prudent use of resources. Duplicate publication of original research is especially reprehensible because it can inadvertently lead to double-counting of information or misweighting the results of one study, biasing the evidence that is available. Double publishing remains one of the least valued forms of publishing misconduct and disadvantages the research community. There must be proper guidelines and adequate junior researcher training. According to the ontological humility paper authors of “Exploring Epistemic Wisdom,” this paper was written for a conference. According to the APA 7 guide, publications previously published in conference proceedings may be republished in a widely disseminated medium (APA, 2020). I would not double publish, as it is illegal and complicated with regard to publishing. Dueling Managers Scenario Ontological humility is the belief that we all don’t perceive reality as it truly exists. Did I feel like the way the scenario was constructed was to create false assumptions? I don’t think so; it was to create false assumptions.

If there were some other facts, then I think it would be different.

A common assumption I can make is that the motivation to hire might be linked to their ethnicity. One assumption I can have is in the event that they are more successful in business than I am. In the event that this individual is more successful than I am, I would bias my business with them. The second bias would be in relation to the success of the business compared to mine. If their business is better than mine, I might be inclined towards the manner in which they conduct their business. In order to lead as a better businessperson, I must shun such biased thoughts by not comparing my business with that of another and understanding that all businesses are unique and have different BMIs, so there is no point in comparing them.

Conclusion

Having a department of innovation in your company can make it expand. But to make it work, everyone must come together. The articles that I read were adequate enough in explaining issues that companies may encounter. Though there is continued study in this area, there is enough data that exists to provide a good understanding of how it works. I do believe there is value to ontological humility when considering whether or not we perceive reality as it exists. A lot of what we perceive is based on the way we were brought up. For example, if you have a business and are being unrealistic about its success, you might be spending more money than making a net profit.
