Researching the Skills Required for a Future Career

The profession to be delved into is Project Management, an entry based on seven years of management and an aptitude for solving puzzles and establishing teams. Although working as a team has been successful, Project Management offers the chance to interface with team members of the entire organization to challenge complex problems. Usually requiring a four-year degree, relevant skills, and industry-specific knowledge or experience, a Project Management position entails delegating tasks, relaying project requirements, debugging, creating status presentations, and developing or updating project plans including objectives, technologies, timelines, funding, and staffing. Essential technological skills include Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), project management software, video conferencing, video editing/creation, and word processing.

The skills needed for Project Management include process management, people skills, troubleshooting skills, and a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management. Having worked for seven years as a field manager and employee, most of the necessary skills are already owned. Being currently enrolled in a Project Management course at Capella University and currently working in a Project Management role, one is adequately qualified for the position.
