This assessment BUS FPX 4121 Assessment 2 explores how external and profitable forces, similar to managed care systems, affect healthcare delivery. It highlights the ethical challenges healthcare professionals face when balancing cost control, availability, and quality of care.
What’s Included:
The health care system is heavily affected by economic and external force changes, which are subjected to different challenges, such as demand for health services and availability of suppliers and facilities due to associated costs (Morrison, 2020).
The intention of managed care, designed in the 1980s, is to raise the care of the patient, provide equality, and regulate the cost of medical care by raising profitability (Morrison, 2020). Care plan management has improved the health care system by offering accessibility to services at minimal costs (Shrink, Kesper, and Loveless, 2018).
Nevertheless, these programs have constraints, such as restricted supplier access and references, which may lead to moral dilemmas for healthcare professionals (Shrank et al., 2018). Notwithstanding these obstacles, managed care coverage has risen tremendously in past decades (MacPac, 2022).
Accessibility is one of the major ethical issues within managed care because restrictions on medical providers can impede the provision of the best possible care (Vrijhoef, 2022). Ethical principles such as autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice must be navigated by healthcare professionals in response to such restrictions (Morrison, 2020).
Among the most significant moral dilemmas of controlled care is accessibility, as constraints on medical providers can bar the supply of the best care (Vrijhoef, 2022). Medical practitioners must navigate moral values like autonomy, profit, non-medicine, and justice when they occur alongside these constraints (Morrison, 2020).
Although managed care has enhanced health services, the bound of the availability of the supplier heightens ethical concerns. The expansion of the network can alleviate these issues, so patients get the required care irrespective of health plan restrictions (Morrison, 2020).
