Introduction

The evolution of an effective training plan is mandatory for the development of successful employees by the organizations. It is also mandatory to identify a robust evaluation plan for the training process to identify efficiency. Upon assessment of the impact of a training program, firms receive ideas regarding areas of success and regions for improvement. A successful training program can preferably be utilized by future employees to save time as well as costs. The Donald Kirkpatrick evaluation model provides four levels that enable the success of the training program.

Kirkpatrick’s Evaluation Model

Dr. Donald Kirkpatrick developed in the 1950s the Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model with four levels: reaction, learning, behavior, and results (Bates, 2004). Even though some coaches begin with desired results, it can be rectified by examining each level in detail.

Level 1 – Reaction

This level considers joy, commitment, and alleged relevance of the participants’ training program. The observation checklist and oral reaction are usually used in this evaluation phase (Blancard and Thacar, 2013). Examples of questions for coaches include engagement assessment, relevance to job responsibility, and general happiness with training.

Level 2 – Learning

Here, attention is transferred to the skills gained under the knowledge, approach, and training of the participants. Den-down and post-created surveys play an important role in evaluating whether the programs for the program were met (Smidt et al., 2009). By comparing the knowledge of the participants before and after training, the coaches can estimate the efficiency of the program.

Level 3 – Behavior

At this point, focus is shifted towards the abilities acquired under the knowledge, method, and coaching of the participants. Den-down and post-designed questionnaires have a significant role in examining if the programs for the program were fulfilled (Smidt et al., 2009). Through contrasting the participants’ knowledge before and after training, the coaches can approximate the program’s efficiency.

Level 4 – Results

The last levels measure the broad organizational impact of the training program. This measurement compares actual learning outcomes to pre-established objectives (Bates, 2004). The evaluation of these outcomes assists in determining areas of improvement and growth of training programs.

How Evaluation Will Be Measured

To quantify the effectiveness of the training program, levels 2 and 3 of the Kirkpatrick model will be emphasized. Surveys prior to steps will ensure that the growth in knowledge and changes in behavior are made known to the participants. The observation program has confidence that using applicable conversations, active participation, and acquired skills will measure the effectiveness.

Through utilizing levels 2 and 3 of the Kirkpatrick model, appropriate information can be conveyed to the employees, encouraging learning application in the daily work. The training program can suggest change or the need for additional workouts subsequent to post-failure subsequent to enhancing the behavior.
