Introduction

A learning association constantly develops its wisdom and capabilities, either by embracing transformation or investing in its employees’ ongoing learning.  This review consolidates three articles about learning associations, exploring the concept, increasing experience, and the pros and cons associated with them.

Article Summary and Selection

Three articles were selected for this review. The main article, “Returning to the Learning Association: How to Make It?” emphasizes the utilization of workers’ assets, capacities, talents, and knowledge to shake things up and propel hierarchical progress (Shin, Picken, and Dess, 2017). The following article, “Still Looking for a Learning Association? ‘Towards an Extreme Record of The Fifth Discipline: The Craftsmanship and Practice of the Learning Association,’” analyzes Peter Senge’s learning association hypothesis and argues that it concentrates only on hierarchical design, not on learning itself (Shih-Wei and Sheep, 2020). The third article, “Learning Association Displaying Examples,” argues that associations should adopt how to gain an advantage, proposing a model with eleven spaces centered around learning (St. Nick and Nurcan, 2016).

What is a learning organization, and how do they learn?

A learning association continually learns and enhances its cumulative knowledge through individual and hierarchical learning motivations.  

Learning occurs through internal avenues such as workshops and professional development courses, external participation to understand client needs and industry trends, and overall reflection on hierarchical processes (Shin et al., 2017).

Advantages and Disadvantages of Being a Learning Organization

Advantages of being a learning association include increased hierarchical information, sustainable progress, and enhanced employee commitment.  However, limitations may include the risk of employees exploiting learning opportunities for personal gain and insulation against ongoing change (Shin et al., 2017).
