BHA FPX 4010 Assessment 2

Assessment Overview

This evaluation BHA FPX 4010 Assessment 2 concentrates on formulating a qualitative disquisition question and determining applicable methodologies and data collection ways. The study stresses looking into surgical time-out procedures to stop retained surgical particulars (RSIs). Qualitative disquisition elucidates actors’ exploits, conduct, and perspectives, yielding perceptivity into sanatorium practices and patient safety.

Introduction

In this paper, I will construct a qualitative disquisition question, identify applicable qualitative methodologies and strategies for addressing the disquisition question, and interpret the significance of targeted data collection in a comprehensive disquisition plan.

Part 1: Qualitative Research Question

Is it opportune to reassess the procedural methodologies employed in operating apartments across the United States for conducting surgical time-out procedures? Annually, within our healthcare system, there has been a swell in incidents involving the unintentional retention of surgical instruments in cases posterior to invasive surgeries. Consequently, the issue of retained surgical particulars not only tarnishes the character of hospitals but also escalates malpractice claims, exacerbating the health risks posed to cases over time (Pyrek, 2017).

Part 2: Qualitative Methods and Data Collection

Qualitative disquisition epitomizes regular approaches aimed at comprehending social or cultural sensations by assessing the exploits and perspectives of involved actors (Choo et al., 2015). Dodgson (2017) characterizes qualitative disquisition as primarily an inductive process easing data association to ripen perceptivity into others’ exploits and the world as perceived by them.

Four predominant qualitative disquisition methodologies include phenomenology, rested proposition, ethnographic research, and case study (Bradshaw, Atkinson, & Doody, 2017). Phenomenology delves into describing sensations through the lens of individualities who have endured them, aiming to interpret the substance of these exploits (Hammarberg, Kirkman, & de Lacey, 2016). A rested proposition fosters proposition development from collected data without predefined suppositions (Singh & Estefan, 2018). Ethnographic research immerses researchers in natural settings to understand societies, groups, or communities (Chawla & Jones, 2017). Case studies offer a detailed examination of specific subjects to draw comprehensive conclusions (Rashid et al., 2019).

Qualitative Data Collection Strategies

Qualitative data collection strategies encompass interviews, focus groups, and observations, each with unique advantages and limitations (Billups, 2020). Interviews grease detailed perceptivity beyond verbal exposures through verbal cues (Billups, 2020). Focus groups aid in understanding different perspectives and fostering agreement (Billups, 2020). Obediences give flexible and natural settings for understanding conduct and relations (Smit & Onwuegbuzie, 2018).

Targeted Data

Targeted data collection aligns material information with the disquisition question, barring irrelevant data to concentrate on pivotal pointers and palliate prejudiced issues. To address the disquisition question regarding the need for variations in surgical time-out procedures, qualitative strategies involving observation and canvassing are imperative. Transparency with actors is vital to ensure that findings serve to enhance patient care and safety.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Make a disquisition question that focuses on surgical time-out procedures and RSIs.
  2. Choose a system phenomenology, rested proposition, ethnography, or case study.
  3. Plan how to collect data by using interviews, focus groups, or observations.
  4. Target Applicable Data Get information that is directly related to the question you are trying to answer.
  5. Make sure actors are open and honest by explaining the purpose and following the rules of ethics.
